What a wonderful week of stories, poems and books across all the Pegasus schools. Book Week isn’t just for the children! The staff love getting stuck into all the different book inspired activities. It gives them a chance to reflect on their own favourite books, as well as to encounter some new ones and to share those with the children.
You may well wonder how the staff at Pegasus know about all these amazing children’s books! One of the ways is via our staff book club. Every half term a new book is chosen and read and discussed. We have consciously chosen to read current publications with diverse and inclusive representation. Many of these titles have ended up in our curriculum, as well as in our book corners and libraries, as they better reflect our diverse south London communities. Books like these help our children to ‘see’ themselves, and others from their communities, in books. Books help shape who we are, and help us build empathy with others.
