Year 2 have loved reading Roald Dahl’s The Twits. It may be an old book, but it’s definitely a gold book. We’ve laughed, we’ve screamed and we’ve squealed with excitement reading this hilarious book. First, we enjoyed creating our own revolting beards, just like Mr Twit’s. Using expanded noun phrases, we used collage materials to fill our beards with disgusting ingredients such as slimy, squishy fish tails or hard, crunchy beetles. Then we received a letter from Mr Twit stating that he wanted to come and work in our school kitchen. We felt very strongly that he shouldn’t and wrote Miss Hall some letters explaining why. Mr Twit then left us a voicemail challenging us to make a more disgusting spaghetti recipe than his wife made for him. We enjoyed using collage materials to make our spaghetti plates and then used commands and numbered steps to write instructions for our recipes.
