What an amazing selection of Superheroes and Local Community Heroes we had today in Little Cypress!
Cypress Primary School was overcome with superheroes today such as Spiderman/girl, Firefighters, Emily Pankhurst, Greta Thunberg, NHS nurses and doctors, Super Weetabix Boy and Usain Bolt.
This week in Nursery we have been learning all about how we can keep healthy.
This week Reception have been reading the story ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ by Julia Donaldson.
Last week in Nursery we read the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk.’ We arrived at Nursery one morning to find that an enormous beanstalk had appeared with some giant boots at the top, we discussed who we thought the boots could belong to and then read the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’
Our current literacy learning is based around the works of Shakespeare with a focus on the Scottish play, ‘Macbeth’.
Many of you would have noticed our new living willow tunnel.
Year 2 have had a fantastic week of creating and performing nonsense poems.
Many thanks to everyone who visited our Book Fair. We made a whopping £2500 in sales, which has earned Cypress £1450 worth of rewards to spend at Scholastic on books for the new Upper School library.
It felt almost tropical on Thursday and the weather was such a lovely break from the cold and rain we have been experiencing on and off in the last few months.
Time to prime those brains and flex those fingers: World Maths Day is back!
As a partner borough of the Mayor of London’s Pan-London Anti-Idling programme ‘Idling Action London’, Croydon Council invited Whitehorse Manor Junior School and the Brigstock Annex site to host Air Quality workshops.
Another fantastic book week at Brigstock. Children enjoyed visits and talks by authors and poets and Year 5 had particular fun during their ‘reading cafe’ sessions.
In Reception, children have been reading the story ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet and learning all about the caped potato superhero who is fighting to save the world from arch-villian – Evil Pea!
