Welcome back to the start of a new term at Cypress. We have had a very busy first week with lots happening.
At the Lower Site, we began the week with an assembly about our terrific trio “kind thoughts, kind words and kind actions”. We have been focusing on showing kind actions by moving around the school and coming in and out of assembly quietly. The children have made an excellent start in demonstrating these skills.
Mrs Sorensen
On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs Sorensen came to visit and brought baby Lily with her. We were also so excited to see her and meet baby Lily. The adults all managed to get lots of cuddles with her. Mrs Sorensen and Lily also visited singing assembly. The children were all so quiet and well-behaved and asked some very sensible questions. We look forward to seeing Mrs Sorensen and Lily back in school again soon.
Lower Site Road Safety Competition Winners
A big thanks to everyone who entered the Comic Strip Competition! We had some great ideas around the challenges we all face as road users, with lots of creativity and some very inventive characters. Important issues were raised such as how to cross the road safely; how everyone should drive slower and there was also some very heroic behaviour overcoming the ‘baddies’, who were mainly dangerous drivers!

Blue and Ruby Class Pyjama Reading Afternoon
On Thursday afternoon, Ruby Class and Blue Class had their reading rewards afternoon. The children all changed into their pyjamas and brought their cuddly toys and had a wonderful afternoon. They spent some time in the library hearing a story and then had fun reading books in class and enjoying some snacks.
Cypress Superstars
At the Lower Site, Oscar, Penda, Sky, Max, Imogen, Rosie and Mahbubat from Blue Class visited the office with some fantastic learning about winter. They could explain their learning clearly. Poppy in Green Class came to visit the office with some exciting news. She has earnt a Blue Peter reading badge for entering a reading review about the book ‘Unicorn and the Rainbow Poop”. She also had her art work published in a magazine. Well done Poppy! Leoh in Orange Class also visited the office with his stamp chart full of stars. He had a very successful day on Tuesday and worked really hard. We are really proud of you Leoh! Congratulations to Harper and Elham in Turquoise class who have completed some excellent maths work. They were able to recall lots of facts they had learnt. Well done to Kayden in Blue Class who has completed some excellent writing about missing toys. He made really good use of time connectives to organinse his work and included lots of interesting detail.
