We were very excited to have one of our parents come into school to read a familiar story to our children in her home language. Susana, mum to Audrey in Lilac class, read ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson in Twi. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story and watching Susana use her home-made props to help the children understand the story as she read. This was a fantastic experience for all of the children – thank you Susana.
We always encourage our parents to come in and read with our children and it is extra special when someone tells a story in their home language. Please let your class teacher know if you would like to tell a story or be willing to come into school and read.
