Our YR1 classes would like to say a HUGE Thank you to Mrs Jenkins, who embarked us yesterday on a journey back in time… The children were so excited to learn about the old toys and to explore how they worked.
This week, year 3 have been practising their oracy skills as we know that we can learn best from speaking and listening to each other.
In Reception this week children have been busy designing their own monsters which they will be making next week.
This week, we have been thinking about the features of good listening and what we can learn by really hearing what others have to say.
This week we have been thinking about colours and have shown a huge interest in rainbows!
Years 5 and 6 were treated to a very informative presentation by Natalie from the Idling Project, an initiative which aims to teach everyone about the impact of idling cars on air pollution.
In a news story last year I wrote about the ongoing work to revitalise the Cypress Woodlands that surround the Lower School site in order to bring them back into use and make them more attractive to wildlife.
Year 3 have been inspired by the art of both Frida Kahlo’s to create our self-portraits and Vincent van Gogh’s impressionist style to create beautiful seascapes as a backdrop to our poems.
This half-term we are working hard to develop our oracy skills; we have been thinking about oracy carefully and have decided that good listening skills are a prerequisite to good speaking skills.
We’ve had a great week at Cypress Lower School. Children in Reception have been reading ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson this week and have enjoyed re-telling the story.
The children in Little Cypress have had another fun-packed week, despite the sometimes rather uninspiring weather!
Y5 have had a superb day today! The day didn’t start off as we had planned as we have had to reschedule our workshop, but that didn’t stop the children having lots of of Viking fun!
Happy New Year to all of our Cypress families! We hope you have had a restful holiday.
Happy New Year 2022 to all our wonderful families! It has been fantastic welcoming back the Little Cypress children this week and we have been delighted at how quickly they have settled back in to school life after the Christmas break.
