Year 2 have been having an absolute blast this book week. We arrived at school on Monday dressed as our favourite book character or cosied up in our pyjamas. In the afternoon we were treated to a visit from young author, Isis Damali who shared her book with us. Our day was rounded off with buddy reading where we joined Year 6 to share some stories together. On Tuesday we were visited by author Margaret Bateson-Hill. She started our day with a fantastic storytelling assembly in which we could join in with actions and repeated refrains. Throughout the day, each year 2 class was visited for a storytelling workshop with Margaret. She shared her story ‘Lao Lao of Dragon Mountain’ with us and taught us all about paper cutting. Margaret left us with some paper cutting to have a go at ourselves. We really enjoyed it. On Wednesday Whitehorse opened its own bookshop. We all visited and used our World Book Day voucher to get a book of our own. Throughout the week we have been designing and creating wooden spoon book characters. We have been having so much fun.
