Year 6 students have been diving into a flurry of activities since returning to school. Here’s a look at some of the exciting things they’ve been up to!
In English, the children channelled their creativity by writing imaginative and sci-fi diary entries, inspired by the short film Ruin by Wes Ball. Their stories were filled with futuristic ideas and captivating adventures.
In reading, the students have loved exploring our new reading spine. One of the highlights so far has been The Final Year, which has sparked great discussions and further deepened their love of reading.
This term’s thematic focus is Ancient Egypt, and the children have been exploring this fascinating civilization. They even crafted self-portraits of themselves as Ancient Egyptians, blending art and history in a fun and educational way.
We’ve also taken a moment to look ahead to spring by planting daffodil bulbs. The children are excited to see their hard work bloom when the warmer weather returns!
In addition to their academic work, the children had a visit from TFL’s Safe Citizens team. They learned valuable lessons about travelling safely, resisting peer pressure on public transport, the benefits of active travel, and how to apply for their ZIP cards.
It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and there’s so much more to come!
