Today, Year 6 celebrated their incredible journey through Ancient Egypt! Since the start of the year, they have explored what life was like for the ancient Egyptians, designed intricate death masks, mummified tomatoes, created desert mirages, written persuasive letters to the British Museum and even engineered model shadufs.
To mark the end of this exciting topic, children began the day by creating their own Egyptian name cards using hieroglyphs. They then learned about Queen Nefertiti and carefully crafted their own headdresses based on their side profiles. As part of the celebrations, they toured other year groups and even stepped into Year 4’s Roman-themed learning.
A real highlight was the chance to taste a variety of Egyptian-inspired foods including dates, goat’s cheese, flatbread, grapes, and honey – a feast fit for a pharaoh!
The children have worked incredibly hard and we are so proud of their creativity and enthusiasm. Take a look at their fantastic work on display! Although we’re saying farewell to Ancient Egypt, we’re already looking forward to diving into the world of Ancient Greece next term!
