CYP Lower – Violet Class Remembrance Assembly

We had a wonderful start to the day at Cypress Lower today.  Violet Class taught us all about Remembrance Day.  They explained the history of this day and how it falls on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the eleventh month.  The day is also know as Armistice Day.  The children sang two songs that showed how we remember those who gave their lives to bring peace for us all.   Violet Class also read the poem “In Flanders Field’ and re-enacted a wreath being laid as “The Last Post’ was played.

I was so impressed with the way the children performed and worked together.  Their assembly was very informative and extremely respectful.  Thank you to Miss Hunt and Miss Salami for all your hard work in preparing Violet Class for today.

We were also joined this morning by the House Captains from the Upper Site who were selling poppies to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.  Thank you for your time and for being such excellent role models for the younger children.

Finally, thank to all the parents and carers who were able to join us this morning.  The hall was packed and the children really appreciated your support and encouragement.
