Last week Year 1 received a letter from Jack asking us to help him design a new boat because his boat had a hole. We then carried out an investigation and were testing what material would be best to use. The criteria we came up with is that our boats needed to float, be strong and waterproof. The children built boats made out of paper, tin foil, wood, fabric and plastic. Finally, we tested our boats by putting them in water and placing cubes on top to weigh them down. Can you guess which boats floated and which boats sunk?
