It’s a long day (and night) but I have to thank Mrs Ehiemua, Mrs Chang, Miss Williams and Mrs Fitz-Gerald (and parent helpers) for getting the Whitehorse Junior Choir to and from the O2 for Young Voices 2024. It’s a big, once in a lifetime event, and I’m so pleased that the children got this opportunity. Here is Mrs Ehiemua’s report on the day: On Wednesday, the 31st of January 2024, choirs from Whitehorse Junior School main site and Brigstock site joined a huge number of children at the O2 Arena, North Greenwich, London in a stellar performance with Young Voices musicians and other professionals. In total, there were 9,036 children performing to a packed and excited audience of their family and friends. After weeks of rehearsals – in school, and mostly at home, the choir children became the main stars of this unforgettable evening. Professional performers and musicians such as Jazz singer Natalie Williams, the legendary Urban Strides dancers and teacher turned rap artiste extraordinaire MC Grammar were part of the show. The parents got to dance to 90’s pop hits, and everyone was wowed by 13 year old Nandi Bushell who is an amazing drummer (and who also plays a range of other instruments). The concert began at 7pm and ended at 8.55pm. This trip was a dream for 50 children, and both our wonderful school staff and parents from both sites helped make the dream come true. Our Year 6 children were glald to enjoy this trip before they move on and we had the best view in the house!
