This week Reception have been reading the African themed version of the story ‘The Princess and the Pea’ by the author Rachel Isadora. The children enjoyed recreating a beautiful scene from the story using black sugar paper on top of an orange sunset to create a shadow effect. During our whole class learning we discussed what seeds need to be able to grow, introducing the children to the new term ‘germination’. Afterwards, the children planted and watered their own pea seeds. Over the next few weeks we will see how much they grow and make sure we are looking after them.
