Yesterday, children at Whitehorse Manor Infants celebrated World Book Day. It was great to see all the children dressed up in their favourite book characters. The whole school gathered for assembly and filled the hall with colour. All the children and staff enjoyed looking at the beautiful costumes and guessing which characters they were! Everyone made a huge effort and some of our favourites costumes were those that had been made using clothes and items they had at home!
The excitement did not stop there, all classes had an exciting story telling session with the brilliant author Grace Francis. She had classes singing, acting and retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but with a twist. Thank you Grace for helping us use our imaginations to bring the story alive. All classes also took a trip to the school library. The children enjoyed picking a book, got comfy and enjoyed their books. We had the best day and there were lots of smiling faces walking around the school.
There are still lots more things planned for Book Week. Don’t forget to email a photo of your child reading with an animal (real or stuffed) to readingpics@pegasusacademytrust.org by Monday 13th March for a chance to win prizes. Look out for poster around the school – can you spot which teachers have been reading to their pets? This week, children will be painting their favourite characters, making bookmarks, writing book reviews and reading lots of books!
What a brilliant start to Book Week!
