Continuing on with our ocean theme this term, last week we read the story book ‘Barry the Fish with Fingers.’ We had a fine motor focus and explored lots of different ways to use our fingers, such as using pipettes to melt the ice that had trapped the sea creatures, putting on our own finger puppet show and also using our fingers to paint with! Our Science focus was Floating and Sinking and we had fun exploring different objects to see if they would float or sink when put into water. Outside we experimented with the boats in water and counted how many stones we needed to put into the boat to make it sink. Following on from this, we have also been learning about pollution in the ocean and other ways we can help save our planet, to support this topic we have read the book ’10 Things I Can Do To Help My World.’ We have learned all about recycling and have been using recyclable materials such as cardboard boxes and plastic bottles to make new toys we can play with, we now have a new aeroplane, robot and unicorn rainbow! We have made our own superhero masks and have been sure to do our bit to save the world by making sure we have picked up any rubbish we find whilst at nursery and putting it in the correct bin, depending on whether it can be recycled or not.
