Year 3 have been studying Stonehenge and have recreated a sunset picture of it. Firstly, we experimented with mixing watercolours in a colour wheel. The children then used this knowledge to paint watercolour sunset backgrounds. Some children used yellows, oranges and reds whilst others chose to use the blue and purple colour spectrum.
Next, the children learnt about silhouettes. We studied the shape of Stonehenge and discussed what it would look like as a silhouette. The children then cut out Stonehenge shapes from black card and stuck them onto their watercolour background.
We hope that you enjoy these examples of their work.
