We have had a busy and very enjoyable week at Cypress Lower School.
Today Banji Alexander visited our school. He is an exciting new author who came into school to share his debut book, ‘Lockdown Looms: Reggie’s Birthday Party’.
Absorption has been the focus of the week. We have discussed some ‘top tips’ to help us become absorbed and have realised that absorption is not just concentrating or giving something focused attention; it also involves an enjoyment and engagement with what is being learned.
This week, Year 5 have been learning about the BLP skill of absorption and understanding how being absorbed can help us to become resilient learners.
Mr Veale’s Welcome It certainly has been an autumnal week, with temperatures dropping significantly.
We have been busily selling raffle tickets and hosting a cake sale, in order to raise money for the very worthwhile charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
Many thanks to everyone who donated cakes, treats and money to our Macmillan Coffee morning today.
A big thank you to all the parents who donated cakes this week, we raised £130 for MacMillan Cancer Support through our school Bake Sale.
This week in reception we have been reading the book ‘I’m a feel-o-saur’ by Lezlie Evans.
Year 5 have had a busy but fantastic start to the year so far!
Hopefully you have all seen the fantastic Disney movie – The Lion King!
Our Year 1 parents were invited in to school this morning to hear all about what they children will be learning this year and how they can help at home.
Mars Class enjoyed creating their own computer games in computing today.
There has been a definite Autumn feel in the air this week and the children in Little Cypress have been thinking about Autumn and all the wonderful things that this ‘…season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ brings.
We are delighted that this year we are able to run our family learning again.
