Superheroes take over in Little Cypress!
What a heroic and fun week we have had in Little Cypress! We have been learning all about Superheroes this week and not only the traditional Marvel kind! We have been thinking about who we would be if we were a Superhero and what special powers we would have. This all came to life on Wednesday when we had our annual Superhero Fashion Show. Everyone dressed up as a Superhero and paraded up and down the catwalk, whilst revealing their incredible powers. Who knew that in Little Cypress we had such a vast range of Superheroes? These included: Water Squirter Man, Snail Girl, Rainbow Flower Girls, Sparkly Unicorn Girls, Super Mario, Bee Girl, Ladybird Girl, along with the more traditional Spidermen, Supermen, Wonderwomen and even an Iron-Spiderman mash up! All the staff in Rainbows and Nursery were so impressed with how confident the children were with walking on the stage and showing off their powers. The adults watching were made better with medicine, covered in spider webs, sprayed with water and rainbows, turned purple and even forged best friends! Thank you to all the parents and other grown ups who came to support the children and did some fabulous audience participation!
The Fashion Show ended with two fantastic songs. We rocked away to ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ by Guns n Roses, with the British Sign Language (BSL) actions as well! We ended the show with the tear-jerking ‘Change and Grow’, which reminded us that things don’t stay the same and we move on to pastures new, still remembering faces, places and special memories as ‘…this day we move forward’.
We listened to different Superhero stories this week, including books from the ‘Supertato’ series and ‘There’s a Superhero in your Book’. We did some great repeating patterns using potatoes and potato mashers!
Makaton Sign of the Week
As usual, we have learned a new Makaton sign this week. This week’s sign is hot. Click here to see how to sign ‘hot’.
Sports Morning for EYFS
Rain didn’t stop play on Friday for the Nursery and Reception Sports Morning! We had a fun but very wet morning, making our way around the 10 game stations and putting our all in to the various activities. Well done children and parents for braving the elements and supporting your children with such good humour. Well done to the gentlemen for winning both the Tug of Wars this morning!
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to a busy and fun final week together next week, before the Summer holidays.
