What a fabulous week we have had in the Early Years at Cypress Lower!
Literacy Shed in Reception
In Reception, the staff have worked very hard at creating a Literacy Shed on the Reception patio to inspire the children to become more confident writers. There was a grand opening of the Literacy Shed early in the week and already the staff have noticed how so many children are choosing to write for a purpose, even those for whom independent writing would not have been their first choice in the past! Well done, all you budding authors and journalists in our Reception classes!
Visit from the Firefighters
Reception and Nursery had a very exciting visit from our local firefighters on Tuesday. This visit was linked to Reception’s current topic: People Who Help Us. We all had such fun trying out the hose! The firefighters talked about which number to call if there is a fire and gave lots of important advice about how to prevent fires.
Makaton Sign of the Week
We are continuing to learn a Makaton sign each week and this week we are learning the sign for red. Click here to see how to sign this word!
Little Cypress News
Rainbows, Gold and Silver Classes have been busy bees as usual this week, watching the tadpoles grow, making frog models, doing close observational paintings of daffodils, investigating our Spring and Easter play resources and much, much more! We have been particularly interested in writing and drawing this week and the staff have noticed how fabulous our focus on activities is getting!
We loved wearing non-uniform today in exchange for bringing in an Easter Egg for our Spring Fair. Reception had their Easter Egg hunts today and Little Cypress are having theirs next Friday.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
