CYP LOWER – Run, run, as fast as you can!

The Gingerbread Man

We have immersed ourselves in the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ this week and have read numerous different versions of the story. We are all familiar now with the repeated refrain of: Run, run as fast as you can – you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!  The children have been fantastic at anticipating what happens next in the story and how the sly fox manages to trick the boasting Gingerbread Man.

We have finished our clay gingerbread men in Nursery and we painted them once they were dry, carefully adding buttons, eyes, a nose and a mouth with paint. They were then all ready to be hung up on our Christmas hoop, which will hang in the hall from Monday with all the other classes’ hoops!  Rainbows have made a beautiful hoop as well, with photos of each child decorating their mini Christmas trees.

We have enjoyed using the gingerbread themed resources, such as mini gingerbread men of various sizes and candy canes, to create transient art on the gingerbread and sweet house boards. How creative we all are in making patterns!

Making our mark!

What amazing writers we all are in Little Cypress! We have produced amazing writing and mark making this week and have been practising writing our names so well. We have been signing up to take our turns on riding our favourite bikes, painting the fences with glitter water, making designs of our models, mark making on a large scale on wallpaper, using tools and our fingers in paint and shaving foam and much, much more! We have written some impressive shopping lists and even some lists for Santa, using some initial sounds – wow!

Seve in Nursery

We are all so familiar now with our school therapy dog, Seve, as he spends lots of time with us in Nursery when he is not in the lower or upper site seeing children. We are much more confident around him and he is very lucky as he gets so many cuddles and strokes!

Makaton Sign of the Week

As usual, we have learned a new sign this week. It is very appropriate, as the weather has been getting fairly chilly! The word is ‘Winter’. Click here to see how to sign the word ‘Winter’.
