What a fun and delicious first week we have had back in Little Cypress! Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday, a day that’s celebrated by many Christians around the world before the start of Lent. Lent is the six-week period that leads up to Easter. Learn more about Shrove Tuesday here.
In both Rainbows and Nursery we made and tasted pancakes on Tuesday. We chose from the toppings of lemon, sugar or maple syrup and we all really enjoyed them! We read different stories related to pancakes, including Mr Wolf’s Pancakes and Mama Panya’s Pancakes. We also learned the song: ‘Five Crispy Pancakes’ (to the tune of Five Currant Buns) which helped with our counting skills. Great fun was had with our tuff tray pancake set up where we pretended to whisk the pancake batter and flip pancakes to our hearts’ content!
The new Makaton sign we are learning this week is happy. What a wonderful word! Please click here to see how to sign happy.
Our week at school has certainly been happy and we hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the sun starts to shine a little more!
