We have had yet another busy and fun-packed week in Little Cypress! We have encountered a little sunshine, snow, slush and plenty of rain to remind us of a typical British Spring!
Tadpoles!
Great excitement ensued with the arrival of some frogspawn, from which quickly hatched our wriggly tadpoles. The children have been showing enormous interest in the tadpoles and are keeping a very close eye on them to see when they might sprout some arms and legs! We have been reading frog-related books such as ‘What made Tiddalik Laugh’, ‘The Tadpole’s Promise’, ‘The Teeny Weeny Tadpole’ and many more. We made funny faces just like the animals did to try and make Tiddalik laugh.
Activities this week in Little Cypress
We have thought about the colours of Spring flowers and done some wonderful pastel-coloured Spring printing. We thought carefully about making repeating patterns and did an amazing job. The mud in Forest School made for some fun and games on Tuesday and Wednesday! We have been playing with Seve the Cypress Superdog and having fun in the Adventure Playground, as well as playing some fabulous listening and circle games.
Makaton Sign of the Week
Our Makaton sign of the week this week is the word bus and we have been having a go at signing it throughout the week. One of our favourite songs is ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ so this has fitted in really well!
Red and Yellow to Remember Mrs Fernandez
The week ended in a blaze of colour as we dressed up in red and yellow (the colours of the Spanish flag) to remember Mrs Fernandez, one of wonderful Year 2 TAs who sadly died last year. Your kind donations will go towards buying a Friendship Bench in her memory. We are delighted to report that Lower School raised just over £300, which is amazing! Thank you all so much for your kind donations; we know Mrs Fernandez would have been so touched by how Cypress remembered her today.
Have a wonderful weekend.
