Looking forwards…
The weeks are galloping on as we enter our final weeks before the holidays. We are making the most of our time left in Rainbows and Nursery and have been enjoying continuing to learn and play happily with our friends. We have heard lots off excited chatter about which new Reception class the children will be going in to in September and the Rainbows’ children have been telling the staff that they will soon be big Nursery children! We have been talking about these changes through circle times, books and discussions and how things changing can be exciting, yet can also make us a little nervous. We know that the children will adapt brilliantly to their new classes and we look forward to following their progress as they move up the school.
Makaton Sign of the Week
Rain didn’t stop learning today and in the spirit of Wimbledon fortnight, our Makaton Sign of the Week is ‘tennis’. Click here to see how to sign the word ‘tennis‘. Perhaps some of the children play tennis as a hobby or may catch some of the matches at Wimbledon on the television over the weekend?
Loving Learning
As well as thinking about our new classes for September, we have been continuing to learn about creatures who change in surprising ways as they grow, such as caterpillars to butterflies and tadpoles to frogs.
We have created some wonderful symmetrical butterfly paintings by making patterns on one side of the butterfly wings and then carefully folding the paper over and rubbing gently so that the paint transfers to the other side, making identically patterned wings!
In Nursery, we have been showing a huge interest in counting and matching quantities with numerals. What fantastic budding mathematicians we are!
Sports Morning – re-scheduled date: Friday, 12th July
Sadly, due to the heavy rain this morning, we had to take the difficult decision to postpone our Sports Morning for Nursery. We are re-scheduling it for next Friday, 12th July at 9.30am.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
