Happy New Year 2024 and we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday! All the staff wanted to thank all the parents/carers and children for their generous and thoughtful presents and cards. We are very lucky to work with such amazing families.
It has been wonderful to welcome Rainbows and Nursery back to school this week and we have all been hugely impressed by how quickly the children have settled back in to the routines of life in Little Cypress, following the break. We have had circle times to remember our class rules so that we can all play and work as a team.
This week, we have been thinking about Winter and the weather has been a mixture of frosty, snowy, icy and chilly this week, helping us to understand this theme better. We have thought about how we dress when it is cold and have experienced first hand trying to match many, many stray gloves, hats, scarves and coats with their rightful owners! We’ve enjoyed printed repeating patterns with wintery colours and have explored our Winter Wonderland tuff tray.
We have enjoyed many Winter stories including The Very Long Sleep, which taught us all about animals who hibernate, One Snowy Night (with the very kind and patient Percy the Park Keeper) and I Definitely Don’t Like Winter. All these stories have prompted such interesting discussions and have elicited incredible knowledge from the children.
As usual, we have learned a new Makaton sign this week. It is thank you. What a useful and polite word to know how to sign! Click here to see how to sign thank you.
Another busy and happy week has whizzed by and we hope you all have a lovely weekend.
