CYP LOWER – Gung Hay Fat Choy from Little Cypress!

In Little Cypress we have been celebrating the Lunar New Year! 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit and we have been learning the story of The Great Race and how each year got its name. We have also been thinking about the traditions of this colourful festival and learning all about the importance of the colour red in the celebrations. What fun we have had sampling Chinese noodles and stir-fry, painting the Chinese symbols for the difference animals in The Great Race, printing with black and gold on red paper and lots more! We will be carrying on with the celebrations next week as well.

We have been learning some Makaton symbols. Here is a link to find about more about Makaton and how and why it is used as a means of communication. This week we have been learning the Makaton sign for ‘snow’. Please click here to see the short video on how we sign ‘snow’. Please see more information about this on the Cypress news story for this week. We have had some fantastic Communication Boards installed in Rainbows, Nursery and Reception and we have been working with the children to understand how to use them to communicate.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Chapman and the Little Cypress Team
