The Year of the Snake 2025
Another fantastic and busy week has whizzed past in Little Cypress! We have been adding to our knowledge of Chinese New Year, which falls on the 29th January this year and is the Year of the Snake. We have written the names of the animals from the Great Race in Mandarin and painted beautiful Cherry Blossom pictures using our observational drawing skills so well.
Our tuff trays this week have been Chinese New Year related and we have loved trying to pick up the dried pasta using chopsticks and sorting all the red and gold artefacts linked to this colourful festival.
Valentine’s Day
We have started to think about the people in our lives we love and why we love them. Whilst focusing on the colours red and pink, (red particularly linking with Chinese New Year as a lucky colour) we made gorgeous pinky-red and white Valentine’s Cards using shaving foam and streaks of red paint to create wonderful patterns on the paper hearts.
We have been making clay heart tea light holders in Rainbows and clay heart pendants for Valentine’s necklaces in Nursery. We worked really hard at rolling out the clay evenly and pressing the heart shapes in to it.
Makaton Sign of the WeekÂ
As usual, we have learned a new Makaton sign this week. It is a very useful one – the word ‘school’. Click here to see how to sign the word ‘school’.
Rainbow Certificates
We have been celebrating children in Little Cypress who have we have noticed doing amazing things this week! Congratulations to Luca, Lyra, Henry, Leon, Mia and Jaheem.
Developing Independence
Please continue to support your children with putting on their coats and recognising their hats, gloves and water bottles. Please ensure anything that comes in to Rainbows or Nursery is clearly named, so that items can be easily matched with their owner.
Have a wonderful weekend!
