Half-term and Halloween!
It’s been a short but action-packed week in Little Cypress! The children have slotted straight back in to the routines of life in Rainbows and Nursery following the half term break and have been exploring both inside and outside, despite the sometimes inclement weather. We came back to school the day after Halloween and many of the children enjoyed telling us about Trick or Treating, dressing up in Halloween outfits and carving pumpkins. They explored the Halloween interactive tuff-tray, developing their fine motor and counting skills at the same time.
When discussing Halloween, Frances said: “For Halloween, I went ‘Trick or Treating’ with my friend, Innes. I dressed up as a dragon and I got some chocolate. I saw lots of scary pumpkins!” Ciara said: “I dressed up as a bat for Halloween and I saw Darth Vader with a sword. I saw a scary pumpkin who stuck his tongue out and I got sweeties. My sister had to ring the doorbells and knock on the doors!”
Ralf has been busy over half-term, telling us that: “Daddy has a hammer and I help him with it. You get the hammer and press the nail in to the wood. You have to be very, very careful with nails and also with fire because fire burns your skin. You must keep your fingers away from hot fire!” Very sensible advice, Ralf!
Autumn vibes
There is a truly Autumnal feel in the air and the leaves on and off the trees are displaying the most incredible colours. Our printing activity this week helped us to explore these different Autumnal shades, as well as mixing the colours together and seeing which colours emerged!
The children in Rainbows have been snip, snip, snipping paper and strengthening their muscles at the same time. It’s hard work doing cutting when you are two or three!
Makaton Sign of the Week
As usual, we learned a new Makaton sign this week. This week, we have learned the sign for ‘frightened’. Click here to see how to sign ‘frightened’.
Lots of exciting learning opportunities are ahead of us, including Remembrance Day, Bonfire Night and Fireworks and the Hindu Festival of Light, Diwali.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
