CYP Lower – Autumn arrives in Little Cypress!

There has been a definite Autumn feel in the air this week and the children in Little Cypress have been thinking about Autumn and all the wonderful things that this ‘…season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’  brings. We have thought about what signs we can see that make us know it is Autumn. The children have been bringing in some wonderful treasures to share, including Autumn leaves in different colours and shapes, conkers and acorns. We have also been making transient art arrangements with the Autumn artefacts.

At carpet time we have been listening to the story of ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson. What a fantastic job we have done of remembering the repeated refrains in the story and being able to suggest what will happen next! One of our small world scenarios was the woodland scene from ‘The Gruffalo’  which included all the characters from the story, as well as having a very autumnal feel, with leaves, conkers, acorns, log pieces and twigs. It has been wonderful listening to the amazing language coming from the children and the way they have recalled so much of the story. What superstars!
