BINF- Once upon a Gold class

Gold class has had a wonderful Spring term hearing and learning about different traditional stories. Our focus stories have been ‘The Gingerbread Man’, ‘The Three Little Pigs’, and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. The children had great fun engaging in many activities around the stories. It was great fun pretending to be the gingerbread man and running away as fast as they could. We also cooked gingerbread men but some of them managed to escape! The following day we made more but this time the children caught them and ate them, hooray!

The children enjoyed making puppet characters from the different stories and building houses for the Three Little Pigs, especially ’huffing and puffing’ to blow them down! The children also learned about the properties of wood, bricks, and straw. We carefully investigated  to check which material was the strongest for house building.

When we looked at the story of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ we learnt about different sizes, explored what it means to have good manners and had great fun cooking porridge. We tried different ways to prepare it until the children felt that it was ‘Just right!’.

It has been lovely to see the children enjoying these stories and watching them re-tell the stories independently during their play. Some of our children were very creative and made up alternative versions!

Remember you can borrow these stories from our class library and carry on the fun at home.
