Gold class have had a wonderful Spring term hearing and learning about different traditional stories. Our focus stories have been ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We The children have had great fun engaging in many activities around the stories. They particularly enjoyed making houses for the pigs and puppets of the characters in the stories especially when ’huffing and puffing’ to blow them down! The children also learned about the properties of wood, bricks, and straw. When we looked at the story of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ we learnt about different sizes, explored what it means to have good manners and had great fun cooking porridge. We tried different ways to prepare it until the children felt that it was ‘just right!’ We then added different flavourings to find our favourite – most children preferred their porridge with Golden Syrup. It has been lovely to see the children enjoying these stories and watching them re-tell the stories independently during their play. Some of our children were very creative and made up alternative versions!
