Some of the parents with children in Gold class have participated in weekly ‘Bookstart’ workshops. This is a fun four week course which is all about parents sharing reading time with their children. The parents were kept very busy in each session creating activities and props related to the story of `Rosie’s walk’ and they also made an interactive nursery rhyme book. At the end of the workshops, the parents took home very useful resources to promote literacy and language at home.
At the end of each session their children joined in the fun and the parents proudly showed their children how to use the resources whilst they were reading with them. The parents were disappointed that the course had come to an end as they had really enjoyed themselves. Parent’s comments included:
“The sessions were great.” “It was nice coming and do things to help me with my daughter.”
