Atwood Nursery explore space

In Nursery we have been learning about space.  We read the story Whatever Next! and went on a magical journey to the moon.  We had lots of fun learning about the planets in our solar system.  We made rockets by working as a group to combine different materials.  We played with moon sand, matched numerals with quantity of stars and enjoyed decorating planet biscuits with icing and star sprinkles. We also made twinkle stars with finger paints and then sprinkled them with shiny glitter and used these to make a display with our rocket.

We have been loving nature and have enjoyed our butterfly and duckling experiences.  We released the butterflies that we have observed over the last few weeks having learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly.  We went to visit the ducklings that hatched in Reception and everybody loved giving them a stroke!

In forest school this week we collected various natural objects: leaves, flowers and created some amazing suncatchers. The children also really enjoyed exploring the outside environment by making rubbings of different textures in forest school.
