ATW Reception News – Nativity, pantos and concerts

This week in Reception, the children learned about the Nativity. They discovered that people who follow the Christian religion celebrate Christmas because of the birth of Jesus Christ. The children enjoyed acting out the Nativity story using costumes, crafts and small-world toys. They realised that many of the songs they have been learning for their Christmas Concert are all about the Nativity Story. For example, the donkey in “Little Donkey” was the one who carried Mary to Bethlehem and the star in “It Was On A Starry Night” was the star that appeared above the stable where Jesus was born to show that he had arrived.

On Wednesday, a panto was performed by a traveling theatre company to the children’s delight. There was a lot of joviality and shouting and the youngest children in the school did well joining in and enjoying the show. A couple of Reception children were even brave enough to go on stage to help out with the acting!

The children have been working hard practising for their Christmas Concert which they performed today. You’ll agree that they did an amazing job using big, clear voices to sing the songs. The teaching staff are proud of every child for being so brave in performing in front of such a large audience. Well done!
