9:30am @ South Norwood Lakes for age 10+

A fantastic and fun co-creation with our friends at Kidical Mass London, we’re going for a ride to (for big kids) and through (for everyone) Central London, a parade with IBikeLondon’s wonderful cargo bike sound systems loaded up with a family friendly playlist along the Thames Cycleways, lunch in Southwark Park (great cafe with wide range of kid friendly options!), and home via South London’s quietway paths and back streets – maybe an ice cream in Dulwich Park on the way back.
If little legs are feeling too tired for the return trip – we will be calling at South Bermondsey station on the way back, which has half hourly trains back to Palace.
If you’ve kids aged 10+ (or otherwise confident, experienced riders who can cover the 8 miles from Norwood Lakes to Monument in under 90 minutes), meet us at the ice cream kiosk at 0930 sharp.
Going with younger and less experienced riders? Please take the 10:03 train from Crystal Palace to London Bridge (there are no trains from Norwood Junction this Sunday), and meet us by the Monument – an easy ten minute ride from London Bridge. (Take the protected cycle lane across the bridge itself, then turn left / left again, walk down to Upper Thames Street and turn left on to the Cycle Superhighway running east towards Monument).
We’ll join the parade at Monument for a short and easy 3 mile / 1 hour ride to Southwark Park. We’ll stop for lunch there around noon, and find our way back to Crystal Palace & South Norwood to arrive home at 2pm or thereabouts.
Check the weather, dress appropriately, & bring some money for the cafe or a picnic of your own. This is going to be a good ‘un!
We’ll adjust the route a little to suit the group, but for the “fast” group, some on road skills will be required. No maximum age for this one – some ex-Cypress pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be along to help.
