This week marked an exciting start for Yellow Class as we returned from the Easter break diving into our new topic: ‘Traditional Tales’, or better known as ‘Fairy Tales’. We began with reading the book ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, learning about her adventures and the Big Bad Wolf.
The highlight was receiving a letter from the Wolf, and to our surprise, he came to visit us! The children eagerly asked him questions using their newly learned question words. They asked fantastic questions such as, Aashi: “How can you stand on two legs?”, Rozzie: “What is your house made of?” and Corey: “Why did you try and eat Granny?”.
The Big Bad Wolf shared his side of the story and answered all of their detailed questions! As our week wrapped up, the children excitedly began using descriptive writing to describe ‘The Big Bad Wolf’, using their phonics skills. They used puppets to act out and re-tell the story and they also used their creative skills to paint a terrifying picture of ‘The Big Bad Wolf’!
What a fantastic first week back we have had in Yellow Class! We cannot wait to learn more about Traditional Tales!
