Year 2 had a great time this week visiting London as part of their Thematic Topic. We went through security and into the lift up to floor 15 at The Garden at 120. Unfortunately, it was a very grey and rainy so the views were not very spectacular.
We didn’t let a little wet weather stop us from taking in the sights and sounds of our lovely city.
We visited St Dunstan’s in the East, a church which was damaged during The Great Fire of London and redesigned by Sir Christopher Wren. Another stop on our journey was Pudding Lane, the place where The Great Fire began. From Pudding Lane, we could also see The Monument, which was built to remember The Great Fire. Whilst out, we conducted a transport survey as part of our Geography work. We couldn’t believe how many buses and taxis we saw! It was such a great day.
Most pupils described the experience as ‘wet and wonderful’.
For some of the children, it was their first time going to central London. To make the day a little special, we stayed to watch Tower Bridge open and close.
