ATW Reception News – Teeth, spring and Easter

To finish our topic of ‘To The Rescue!’, we looked at the story of ‘Croc goes to the Dentist’. The children learned how to brush their teeth well and why it is essential. Dentist Flora kindly provided every child with a toothpaste sample, and they took these home with some posters about tooth brushing techniques.

To continue our learning about the seasons, we walked around Riddledown Common to spot the signs of spring. We worked in small groups to see how many times we could spot different things such as daffodils, buds and bees. We had lots of kind adult volunteers who supported us on our walk. Thank you all for giving up your time to help us.

We have continued planting things to eat!  Our potatoes went into the ground this week, after being chitted for two weeks. The children enjoyed planting sunflower seeds. Hopefully we will get lots of tall flowers by the end of the summer!

Reception ended the week by learning about the Christian Celebration of Easter. The children learned how it celebrates Jesus Christ’s rebirth, and why the symbols of eggs are used so widely at Easter. The children enjoyed an egg hunt as the Easter Bunny hopped by leaving a trail of funny-looking eggs behind.

We hope that you all have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to seeing you in two weeks.
