This term, Reception is learning all about the different people who help us in our community. This week, they were lucky enough to have had a very special visit from our local police officers, bringing an exciting and educational experience for them. The officers took time out of their busy schedules to share all about their important role in the community, and the children were eager to learn more about how the police keep everyone safe.
During the visit, the officers showed the children their uniforms, equipment, and even their handcuffs! The children had the chance to ask questions and were fascinated to learn about the different tools officers use to do their jobs, like radios, handcuffs, and flashlights. One child asked the officers, “Why did you want to become a policeman?” The police officer shared his story about choosing to become an officer so that he could help people and keep them safe.
The highlight of the visit was when the officers demonstrated how they would help in an emergency, showing the children how they use their radios and even letting them try for themselves!
This visit was a wonderful opportunity to help the children understand the important work police officers do every day. It also gave them the chance to ask questions and interact with real-life heroes in a fun and friendly way. The children left with a greater appreciation for their local police force and an excitement for learning about the world around them.
A big thank you to our local officers for taking the time to visit and inspire the next generation, who now have decided that they would all like to become police officers!
