It has been a busy week in Reception! We continued with the topic, ‘To The Rescue!’ and introduced the story, ‘Supertato!’ The children came up with many thoughts of how to trap the Evil Pea (the main villain in the book) and enjoyed acting out these ideas.
As this week has been World Book Week, we have engaged in lots of activities to celebrate reading. On Tuesday we had an online workshop with the author, AnneMarie Anang. On Wednesday, we had the author Andrew Clover come and make a story with Reception. It was extremely engaging and involved Isla rescuing her cat Peanut from Ms Docherty, who had turned evil at night time. On Thursday we had all of the book-in-a-box entries brought in. The children enjoyed providing feedback about them. We also had an online workshop with the author Laura Baker and learned all about punctuation. And then on Friday, we had a full-on day of celebrating World Book Day!
Yellow class enjoyed preparing the raised beds in the Forest School/allotment area by digging the beds over and pulling up the weeds. In the next session, we will be planting a variety of seeds to grow fruits and vegetables to eat. Red Class will have their session doing this next week. If you have any spare seed packets that you do not need, please hand them to Reception.
