Lest We Forget
We started the week by remembering Armistice Day on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. We respectfully marked the two minute silence in silence and could talk eloquently about why we wear poppies at this time of the year. Elowen said: “The soldiers died in the war because they were fighting each other.” Bonnie said: “The judge said ‘fight!’ and the soldiers killed each other. We wear poppies to remember them.” Luca remembered that: “The poppies grew in the fields where the soldiers died, when the war finished.” We did some lovely poppy printing, creating some beautiful repeating patterns.
Children in Need
Today we marked Children in Need by wearing our brightest clothes to raise money for children who are not as fortunate as ourselves. We did Pudsey Bear related activities, including making Pudsey Bear faces, thinking carefully about the different colours we used and using our fingers to make the spots on Pudsey’s bandage.
Makaton Sign of the Week
As usual, we learned a new Makaton sign this week. It is very relevant one, linked with Pudsey Bear. It is the word teddy or cuddly toy. Click here to see how to make this sign.
Taking our learning forwards
We have been thinking carefully about how to get better at doing activities. We know we have to practise lots of times to get really good at something and to persevere and not give up when things get difficult. We are also getting really good at thinking about how to take our learning forwards, whether that is by trying really hard to write our names, use the toilets and wash our hands, add detail to our drawings or improving our construction models. The adults in Little Cypress have been so impressed with how the children have been working on their individual targets and finding out interesting facts at home about a variety of topics including penguins (Haroon), wombats (Bella) and a plethora of other topics!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
