CYP LOWER: Green Fingers in Little Cypress!

Growing, growing, all the time…

We have observed a fabulous week’s worth of growth of the peas we planted last week. It is so exciting to see the tiny shoots bursting through the soil to seek out the light. Our Cress Mountain has also had a huge growth spurt and the cat grass, combined with the mustard and cress, has shot up, creating the most wonderful tuff-tray of greenery, like a beautiful, lush field in the Spring! When we touched the Cress Mountain, we marvelled at how soft the grass and plants felt on our hands.

On Friday, we decided that our mustard and cress had grown enough for us to taste! We made mustard and cress sandwiches and spread the butter or cream cheese and sprinkled the mustard and cress ourselves. We cut our sandwich in to four pieces and counted them. We mostly agreed that the sandwiches were delicious! Juniper tried her sandwich but decided: “I didn’t really like it so I didn’t finish it all!” Eleni said: “I do like it but the cress is a bit spicy!”  Luca told us that: “I have made sandwiches before at home!”

We have enjoyed listening to lots of stories about growing this week, including ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk‘, ‘Titch’ and ‘The Tiny Seed’, alongside various versions of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, including our favourite: ‘Jack and the Jelly Bean Stalk’.

Both Rainbows and Nursery have loved dressing up this week and have been incorporating their incredible imaginations in to all sorts of role play scenarios. The saucepans, frying pans and cooking utensils in the wet sand have been a huge hit and the language that this play has prompted has been fascinating to listen to.

Makaton Sign of the Week

As usual, we have learned a new Makaton sign this week. It is a fun one: dance! Click here to see how to sign the word dance.

Wishing you all a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend and hoping that we have some lovely weather!
