This term Little Ecclesbourne has been learning lots of Fairy Tales. First, we read the Gingerbread man and decided to make some of our own. We all had a turn at mixing, cutting and rolling! We observed how the ingredients changed in the oven and loved the smell of our classroom afterwards. The children really enjoyed re telling the story with their masks and puppet show.
Next, we read the The Three Little Pigs. The children have been acting out the story, using puppets and props they made. We carried out an investigation testing the strength of the straw, sticks and bricks. We huffed and puffed and tried to blow the houses down.
In maths, we used our gingerbread men to learn positional language and solved problems to help the Three Little Pigs decorate their houses. The children have been learning initial sounds and how to hold a pencil with the aim of writing their names. The Little Ecclesbourne Bike Repair shop has also been open for business.
