Dear Parents and Carers,
On Tuesday, Year 6 had the exciting opportunity to visit Croydon and participate in the Croydon Junior Citizenship Scheme. This educational experience included insightful talks from various organizations, including Transport for London (TfL), the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance Service, the Metropolitan Police, and Hope UK.
The children engaged in valuable learning sessions covering essential topics such as:
- Stranger Danger: How to stay safe and aware in public, who trusted adults are and the importance of asking and looking carefully at identification cards/lanyards.
- Travel Safety: Tips for navigating public transport responsibly.
- First Aid Skills: How to place someone in the recovery position in case of an emergency.
- Fire Safety: What to do if there is a fire at home.
- Gang Awareness: Understanding the dangers and how to make positive choices.
In addition, we would like to remind you that children can apply for a Zip Oyster card two weeks before their 11th birthday. This card offers free and discounted travel for children and can be applied for online at the following link:

We hope this experience has not only enriched the children’s understanding of safety and citizenship but also provided them with practical skills they can carry forward in their daily lives.
