In a thrilling journey back in time, Year 5 celebrated Viking Day, immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of the legendary Norse seafarers. The day began with an awe-inspiring display of Viking attire, where students had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand how these ancient warriors would have dressed, complete with helmets, chainmail, and weaponry. Excitement filled the air as the children eagerly handled artefacts like a formidable Viking helmet, a battle-tested axe, a sharp spear, and a beautifully decorated shield. The immersive experience didn’t stop there; students actively participated in planning for battle, strategising on various formations just as the Vikings would have done in their legendary conquests. Viking Day not only brought history to life but also provided them with a hands-on understanding of history, fostering a deeper appreciation for the bravery and tactics of these formidable warriors.
