This week, Year 5 have been learning about the BLP skill of absorption and understanding how being absorbed can help us to become resilient learners. We trialled this theory in our lessons this week.
In English, we learnt about relative clauses. Although we found it tricky at first, we worked together to make sure our descriptive sentences were correct and as a result created some fantastic sentences about our text, Beowulf. In computing this week, we had a go at coding and had to focus on each line of code for our sequences to function correctly. Finally, in PE, we explored different balances in gymnastics. We had to combine our absorption and collaboration skills here to complete each balance effectively.
By the end of the week, we concluded that being absorbed in our learning allowed us to feel stretched in our learning and it was all the more satisfying when we achieved our goals.
Have a look at the photos below to see our absorption skills in action.
