Today at Ecclesbourne we were very lucky to have published author, Kimba, visit and work with our upper Key Stage 2 children. He was impressed to find out that so many of our pupils remembered from his visit last year that ‘SHAMPOO’ stands for:
Simile
Hyperbole
Alliteration
Metaphor
Personification
Onomatopoeia
Oxymoron
He inspired us with his ‘rhythm and poetry’ in a KS2 assembly and had us all on our feet performing the lyrics with him. Then he worked with our Year 5 children who wrote haikus and Year 6 who wrote whole-class poems, always reminding them to “put a little shampoo on it!”
Some of our Year 6 children will shortly be taking their poems to compete against other schools from across south London, so watch this space!
