CYPRESS: We care about ourselves and others!

This week, we’ve taken a thoughtful pause to reflect on the many ways we can demonstrate care—both for others, our environment and ourselves. It’s been a week of considering the small yet powerful acts of kindness that can brighten someone’s day, and the importance of truly understanding the perspectives of those around us. In our assembly, we looked into how these qualities are not just nice to have, but essential for cultivating a learning space at Cypress where everyone feels valued, supported, and ready to thrive.

Hawthorn Class Assembly

Year 4 Hawthorn Class put on an absolutely fantastic assembly today, bringing The Barnabus Project to life in a truly memorable way. The students retold the story with great enthusiasm, acting out key scenes from the book, which is all about acceptance, courage, and the importance of embracing differences. They cleverly linked parts of the book to their Year 4 curriculum, making connections to topics like science, empathy, and creative writing. To top it all off, they sang Harry Styles’ uplifting anthem Treat People with Kindness, spreading positive vibes throughout the room. It was a brilliant mix of creativity, learning, and fun, and everyone left feeling inspired!

Cypress Superstars

This week, the Cypress Superstars have truly shone with their exceptional work and creativity! Ridwan, Oliver, and Eddie from Holly Class wowed me with their amazing cat raps, drawing inspiration from the talented Josh Siegal, who will be visiting Year 3 next week. Their clever rhymes and rhythmic flows brought a unique energy to the  office this morning! Olive, Ivy, Xaviera, Robin, Lucy, Kayhan, Zephaniah, Berry, Tess, Alana, and Albert from Beech Class shared some fantastic insights into the vibrant Carnival celebrations in Spain, which run until the 5th of March. Their celebration masks were vibrant and interesting and they shared details about the colourful parades and other exciting traditions, making it feel like we were right there in the heart of the festivities! Emerson in Beech Class impressed everyone with his well-researched fact page on Shakespeare, showcasing a good understanding of the iconic playwright’s life and works. Meanwhile, Angel in Rowan captivated us all with her remarkable phonic skills, confidently sounding out words she wasn’t sure of and reading other words with automaticity and accuracy—what an impressive display of reading skills! It’s been a week full of brilliance, and we couldn’t be prouder of our amazing Cypress Superstars!

Book Week

Next week is Book Week, and we are absolutely buzzing with excitement! We’ll be hosting authors across both the Upper and Lower school, and we can’t wait to be inspired by their creativity and stories. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience, sparking imaginations all around. And of course, we’re all eagerly looking forward to seeing the incredible homemade outfits on World Book Day, happening Thursday, 6th March—let’s see who can come up with the most imaginative character costumes! But that’s not all—the Book Fair is coming to Cypress next week too! It opens on Friday morning before school in the Juniper Room, so be sure to swing by and check out the fantastic selection of books. If you’re planning to purchase a book over £2.99, don’t forget to bring your World Book Day voucher to get £1 off. It’s going to be a week filled with stories, fun, and inspiration and we’re going to make the most of it!

We hope you enjoy the weekend.
