This week, year 3 had a very special visit from the highly acclaimed poet Joshua Seigal! Award-winning poet and author, Joshua really put on a show for us as he performed a few of his poems from his books ‘I don’t like poetry’, ‘Yapping Away’ and ‘Who Let the Words Out’. Joshua told us all about his lovely cat, Bluebell, and even read his poem inspired by her, explaining how this poem was written as a poem of thanks to his furry friend! Joshua also led a poetry writing workshop, giving us tips when writing a poem. He told us that poems don’t always need rhyme, they can be written about anything and showed us how to bring the words alive! Using this great advice, we all wrote our own poem based on our favourite places, which ranged from Selhurst Park to our comfy beds! Joshua ended his visit by giving us all a bookmark, which has space for us to write a funny poem on. We all had a fantastic time and we hope to see Joshua Seigal again in the future.
