This week ahs been a fun packed week full of activities linked to Reading.
We kick started the week off with a visit from the author-Margaret Bateson-Hill. She hosted a great interactive assembly whereby the children joined in with sound effects and movements. She then held workshops for different classes, retelling one of her lovely stories. Children then had the opportunity to complete an activity based around the book.
We have continued with our ‘Reading Buddies’ this week. This is where EYFS and KS1 are partnered with one of the KS2 classes. In this time children have the opportunity to share a wide range of books and read to each other. The children absolutely love this and look forward to reading with their buddy.
Year 3 have seen Joshua Siegal in action-sharing his poems and making the children laugh out loud. Year 6 saw the fantastic Karl Nova and took part in a workshop and assembly.
Today, we have had our ‘Dress Up Day’. Children and staff came dressed to school in pyjamas, onesies, dressing gowns and slippers. Everyone looked great! Parents came in to read with their children this morning and hear each other read- Thank you to those parents who made it in. It was lovely to see!
In the library you may have noticed our green ‘Pop up Hut’. Each child has visited the pop up hut to choose their very own book to take home and keep. This is something that I love doing as Reading is key! I would like to say a big Thank you to The Children’s Book project for making this possible.
Please look out for the £1 book token that will be coming home with your child today. Children can use this to buy one of the special World Book Day titles or use it towards buying a book of their choice.
It has been a great week full of stories and Reading for pleasure.
