At the end of last year, Whitehorse Manor-Brigstock trialled the ‘The Powers of Positivity’ (TPOP) wellbeing Programme in Year 2 with Miss Gordon and Miss McKenzie. This programme of study lasted 6 weeks and supported the children in developing a growth mind-set. The lessons covered aspects such as self-love, affirmations and celebrating ourselves and others through singing and fun and engaging activities.
The children in Ash class focused on 6 key letters of the alphabet (based on the abc of positivity). Each week the children completed a specific task and earnt a special positivity sticker.
The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in these enrichment lessons and got to take home a special certificate on completion of the booklet. A huge WELL DONE to all of the children!
There was also an additional prize for the child that demonstrated high levels of engagement and participation.
The Powers of Positivity Programme also ran outside of school in conjunction with the Institute of wellbeing, in which Miss Smith delivered Saturday and summer school sessions. Some of the children from Brigstock and the Mainsite attended these sessions and are keen to continue their positivity journey and use the skills taught in everyday life. Please keep your eyes peeled for further information regarding TPOP and the Afrolights.
We look forward to doing the project again this year.
